Annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count

The Sandwich (NH) Christmas Bird Count will be held on Sunday, January 2, 2011.

Volunteers from all over North America will head out this winter season to look for birds. Audubon’s International Christmas Bird Count (CBC) is the oldest scientific database on bird populations in the world. The 2010 Christmas season marks the 111th annual. Each year the count area picks its official bird survey day between December 14th and January 5th.
As with the other 20 official bird count areas in the state of New Hampshire, volunteers will begin heading out before sunrise to listen and look for birds. The day closes with a compilation meeting where volunteers gather together to report and tally what they have seen.
